Hello World!

Hi, I’m Mir Ashif.

I’m a software engineer.

I build product interfaces and the backend systems, data models, and infrastructure behind them. This site holds a few projects, technical notes, and video edits I want to show.

Open source

Tools built around the desktop I use every day.

Small Omarchy products for moving faster, focusing deliberately, and keeping control local.

OmaRest

Healthy limits for your digital focus

What it does

OmaRest turns long, continuous app sessions into deliberate breaks. Choose an application, set a comfortable allowance, and let a calm break screen mark the stopping point across every display.

  • v1.0.1
  • Omarchy
  • Quickshell
  • QML
  • JavaScript
  • Shell

The ten-second preview uses the same multi-monitor break surface as a real boundary without changing normal tracking or activity totals.

OmaLauncher

Keyboard-first command palette for Omarchy and Omarchy Plugins

What it does

Find applications, menus, shell features, CLI commands, and plugins using the words you remember—such as plugins, clipboard, or browser default. Launch apps, run actions, assign global shortcuts, and discover, install, or remove plugins without memorizing where anything lives.

  • v1.2.1

  • Shell
OmaLauncher touring plugin shortcuts, unified shell search, calculation, file actions, and application controls
Search, discover, install, remove plugins; assign global shortcuts; search live Omarchy surfaces; calculate; work with files; and control applications without leaving the launcher.

Notes

Notes from systems I’ve recently worked on.

What I learned while building interfaces, data models, and software at the edge.

What belongs at the edge?

The right execution point follows the whole data path, not the word “edge” on an architecture diagram.

Idempotency is a contract for retries

A retry is safe only when the system can recognize the same intent, control competing attempts, and contain every resulting effect.
